Biographical Information

Melissa is a Hispanic bilingual counselor who is fluent in English and Spanish. Melissa is originally from Miami, Florida and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida. As a military wife, life has led her to the Eastern Shore where she earned her Master’s degree in Applied Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Baltimore. It is her goal to help clients discover and understand their position in the world, cultivate self-acceptance and create meaning for themselves. Melissa believes in collaboratively setting goals with clients and empowering them to use their strengths to overcome difficulties. Melissa utilizes techniques such as CBT, DBT, and Multi-dimensional Family Therapy. Melissa is currently attending the University of Mississippi to obtain her second Master’s Degree in Play Therapy.

In her free time Melissa loves to be active with her family within the community, describes herself as a foodie, and loves to dance as well as listen to music.
